What just happened? Clippy tried to apply an update but something interrupted it — on Windows that's usually SmartScreen, your antivirus, or a UAC dialog you didn't see; on macOS it can be a Gatekeeper prompt or a permissions reset after an OS update. This is normal for newly-signed apps that haven't built download reputation yet. Downloading and running the installer below once gets you through it, and Clippy will auto-update cleanly for every release after that.
